Chaya's Vitamins introduces Maxi
Health's most powerful
acidophilus formula, Hi-Po Dophilus
capsules. This new formula
contains a high potency of 10
billion active organisms from the
vital strain Lactobacillus
acidophilus and 350 million of
Lactobacillus sporogenes from the
brand Lactospore.
Probiotics, is the general
term for the many different strains
of healthy bacteria, including the
species known as Lactobacilli, so
named because they produce lactic
acid in the bowel by fermenting
carbohydrates. This lactic acid
production is profoundly important
for keeping the intestines balanced
& healthy.
Probiotics, also known as
“friendly bacteria” are beneficial
organisms that help improve the
environment of the intestinal tract.
Trillions of microorganisms live
inside our body and are necessary
for health and vitality. The lower
bowel is a campground for roughly
100 trillion bacteria, single-
celled plant organisms that can be
seen only through a microscope.
Unfortunately, some of these
bacteria classified as “unfriendly”
or bad bacteria, can lead to many
illnesses and health conditions,
including diarrhea, constipation,
acid indigestion and bacterial
(yeast/fungal) infections.
Fortunately, balanced intestinal
flora can create and promote a
healthy environment in the
intestinal tract. This vital balance
can be obtained through a well
balanced diet and the consumption of
probiotics.
One of the most vital probiotics
to support a healthy intestinal
flora is Lactobacillus acidophilus.
Acidophilus is the primary friendly
bacteria found in the intestinal
tract. They help to protect the body
from an invasion of candida and
other germs that invade and live in
the body. Lactobacillus acidophilus
helps by adhering to the intestinal
wall and preventing disease- causing
bacteria from taking hold. They also
help by eating all the food reserves
and starving out the bad bacteria
and allowing them to pass through
without taking up residence.
Acidophilus is also
responsible for producing lactic
acids, which lower the natural pH in
the intestines, which discourages
the growth of the other bacteria
which flourish in a more acidic
environment. They also aid in the
digestion of proteins, which is
essential for the production of
essential enzymes made in the body.
Lactobacillus acidophilus also helps
manufacture B vitamins such as B1,
B2, B3, B12 and folic acid.
Another particular species of
lactobacilli, called Lactobacillus
sporogenes, may prove to be one of
the most practical forms for use in
supplements. L. sporogenes a lactic-
acid producing bacteria, is a spore-
forming bacteria, safely enclosed
within a spore coat that protects it
from the environment, L. sporogenes
is resistant to heat, bile, oxygen
and digestive acids. Once L.
sporogenes reaches the intestines,
its spore coat dissolves, freeing
the bacteria to multiply and churn
out the beneficial lactic acid.
Most individuals are lacking the
necessary levels of lactobacillus,
which contributes to digestive
disorders such as gas, bloating,
constipation, malabsorption of
nutrients and heartburn, hence a
good probiotic formula is crucial in
maintaining a healthy intestinal
flora.
Various factors can disrupt
the intestinal bacterial balance,
including:
-Antibiotic use.
-Traveling.
-Physical & psychological stress.
-Poor digestion and chronic
digestive disorders.
-Wrong food combination
-Excessive consumption of sugar,
spicy foods and alcohol.
Are All Probiotics The Same?
Most bacterial products do not
completely survive processing,
storage and are not shelf stable as
they require refrigeration. They are
prone to lose their full potency
from the time of production, through
human consumption from the mouth to
the gut by our own digestive juices
and acid environment.
The key points for a probiotic
to be beneficial:
1. Ability to survive passage
through digestive tract.
2. Stable under normal gastric
conditions.
3. Resistant to bile salts.
4. Room temperature stable.
5. Proliferates rapidly and produces
abundant quantity of lactic acid,
which suppresses the growth of
pathogenic organisms faster.
Maxi Health’s “Hi- Po Dophilus”
Capsules are carefully
manufactured to protect the live
bacteria from degradation and are
enteric coated. Enteric coating
needs an alkaline pH to dissolve.
The stomach has an acidic
environment and so the coating
remains intact while the capsule is
in the stomach. Once the pH reaches
the basic or alkaline range in the
small intestine, then the coating
dissolves in that environment,
enabling the capsule and its
contents to dissolve. This is the
same type of coating used on
enteric-coated aspirin, to prevent
irritation or damage to the stomach
lining.
